In 1908 the community of Greenleaf, located in Canyon County, Idaho, started a private school known as Greenleaf Friends Academy. Greeneaf Friends Acadamey was headed by teacher Lorena Greenfield and at the time was paid $35 per month. Greenleaf Friends Academy (GFA) is known throughout the Northwest for its academic excellence, outstanding music and athletic programs.
In 1908 the community of Greenlaf was almost entirely a Quaker community. As of a 2000 Census there are approximately 200 practicing Quakers still in the area.
